Chapters and characters stay in place

Parts and prologues keep their own place in your manuscript, merged characters stop causing errors, and new Free accounts can upload right away.

Improved

  • Parts, prologues and epilogues are no longer counted as part of the wrong chapter, code examples in Markdown no longer become false headings, and screenplay scene headings keep their structure. Documents you upload from now on get this; earlier ones need to be read again.
  • The green used for buttons and links in light mode is darker, so button text is easier to read.

Fixed

  • New Free accounts can upload as soon as they sign in for the first time; the upload limit no longer shows as unavailable.
  • Characters who share a first name are no longer merged into one character, and a character’s exact name now wins over another character’s matching alias.
  • Merging two characters no longer fails when both were already tied to the same passage.
  • Names of characters that were merged into another or deleted are no longer matched, which had left rules about the surviving character unchecked.
  • Merging or deleting characters while chapters are being read no longer loses a rule’s character or turns it into a general rule.
  • Live progress updates recover after a dropped connection.
